Care in the student clinic costs 30 to 50% of what the school's faculty practice charges. The faculty practice charges about the same as private dentists.
When it's open
Student clinic: Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm. Urgent care walk-in registration on weekday mornings and early afternoons, Tuesday 1pm to 2pm only; call to confirm.
Closed on university holidays and academic breaks.
Will they take me?
Anyone can call to become a patient; no referral is needed for the student clinic. After an evaluation you are assigned to a student dentist. Urgent care takes walk-in registration on weekdays (Tuesday afternoons only); call first to confirm the times.
- Bring a photo ID
- Bring your original medical insurance card, if you have insurance
- Bring a list of all medicines with doses, including vitamins and supplements
- Bring your doctor's name and contact information
- Bring recent lab results if you have a condition that needs them (for example, A1c if you have diabetes)
- Children's clinic: ages 1 to 12; a parent must show a photo ID

Paying
Ask about payment when you call. Denti-Cal (Medi-Cal dental) is taken only at some of the school's resident clinics, not the student clinic.
Does not take Medicaid.
What they do
- Routine care, braces, dentures, cosmetic treatment and dental surgery
- Urgent Care and Dental Trauma Center: treats infection, removes decay, replaces broken fillings, repairs fractures and treats injuries
- Dr. Roseann Mulligan Special Patients Clinic for medically compromised, disabled and elderly patients (no referral needed)
- Pediatric Dentistry Clinic for ages 1 to 12, including special needs (no referral needed)
- Specialty clinics run by residents; endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery need a dentist's referral; orthodontics and orofacial pain do not
